Does this course meet the requirements to get my Oklahoma learner's permit?
Yes. If you are 15 or older, the state of Oklahoma allows you to take one of three forms of driver education (also known as driver ed) to get your learner's permit. Traditionally, students were required to take driver ed through a public school or commercial driving school. However, more students are electing to complete Parent-Taught Driver Education, which allows all classroom content to be completed online. Simply print out your receipt e-mail you receive after registering for the course and bring to the DPS when you go to apply for your first Oklahoma learner's permit.

What are the first steps to begin the course?
Parents must visit the OK DPS website and get the Parent Taught Driver Education booklet. This booklet needs to be obtained and an affidavit submitted and accepted before a student takes any behind-the-wheel training. There are four ways to get the packet:

A Parent-Taught Driver Education Affidavit must be completed and submitted to the DPS. Once the DPS receives it, the department must accept the affidavit and return an accepted copy back to you before a student is allowed to start behind-the-wheel training. The affidavit can be found in the Parent-Taught Driver Education booklet or can be filled out online.
How long is the course?
The course consists of 30 hours of classroom training and 55 hours of behind-the-wheel training.
What can I expect from the course?
12 course modules.
Each section has a time requirement that must be met. At the end of every module, there will be a quiz. You must pass the quiz before you can move on to the next module. You have unlimited attempts to pass each quiz.
11 behind-the-wheel modules.
You must have a learner's permit before starting any behind-the-wheel training. Each module will include teaching techniques for parents to use while instructing students on the road. There are no quizzes for these modules. Parents must verify that their child has completed the 55 hours of behind-the-wheel training via electronic signature before the student can take the final exam.
Once all modules are finished, there will be a final exam. You have three attempts to pass the final in order to complete the course.
What score do I need to get to pass the course?
You must pass the module quizzes with a score of 70% or higher. You will have unlimited attempts to pass the end of module quizzes. You must pass the final exam with a score of 70% or higher. You will have three attempts to pass the final exam.
What if I do not pass the course?
If your course expires or you exceed the allotted number of final exam attempts, you may re-register and begin again.
How long do I have to complete the course until it expires?
You will have 180 days to complete the course.
What happens after I complete the course?
Certificates will be available for download upon course completion.
